Trip to KalihiwaI waterfalls

This following are pics of the trip to Kalihiwal Waterfalls. This involved:
  1. kayaking up the Kalihiwal River ... no problem
  2. banking the kayak ... no problem
  3. hiking to the waterfalls ... problems
If you take a wrong turning at 3, you end up walking through a field of the tallest grass (think: Mash / Vietnam) then a forest thicket (think: Lord of the Rings or Wizard of Oz). Here are a few pics. We followed a trail thru the forest back to the river, guided by yellow tags (see photo), which didn't end at the waterfalls. We had lunch, then turned back. All the way along, we kept second guessing ourselves ... look for fallen trees where humans have treaded, avoid the fallen trees where there is moss (humans haven't treaded).

We returned to the kayak and took a different route and eventually arrived at the waterfall.

As we went through the forest, there was a guy with about 7 dogs in tow. Seems he was protecting his pot-crop, which is in the forest. Were the dogs there to sniff out the crop?

Arrival 2

And outside the widow ...

Arrival in Kanaha

Mark and me got here around 10pm last night locaL (4AM EST). The place looked lovely . We struggled with resetting the alarm, but once that was away, it was peaceful. We both woke up this morning at around 4am local time, and this is what we saw from the living room ...
